The enclosure of the pelican is replicating the land on the edge of the water where the Pelican lives and eats.
Blue- vegetation: the trees and plants in the enclosure represent the vegetation which would usually be around the waters of where the pelican lives.
Black- Areas to perch: When the pelican is resting but not on the water, it will commonly sit or perch on fallen trees or rocks on or above the water to rest.
Red- Water: water is the most important part of the pelican's habitat. This is because of the fact that they eat fish from the water, swim in the water and drink water. the water is significant to the birds because of the satisfaction that it can give to a pelican.
Eating Habits and Preferences
Like most birds that live by the water, the pelican eats small fish. It will scoop it up using their long beaks. when the pelican finds the appropriate fish, it will grab it and stab it with its curve at the end of its beak to swallow it whole.
Body Covering and Size
The pelican is covered in soft, water-repellent feathers that are white all over the body and black on some parts of the wing. the long neck leads to a small, white head with an extended pink to orange beak at the end of this beak, is a small curve much like a tooth. This helps when catching and eating fish. Two small black eyes have a patch of yellow around them. It appears to stand at about 1 metre tall.
